[The video is a little staticy and snowy. By the way, Castiel is occasionally glowing out of his skin, and more than 'occasionally' in his eyes, which are white-hot with light.]
'See' in the metaphorical sense. I hope to remain your friend, Iris.
[This takes him a while to respond to, and he almost doesn't. He can't forgive what Castiel told him when he first told him who, what he was.
But he's the only one that can answer some of the questions he still has, and he has been consistent of nothing else; this may be Dean's last chance. And so:]
[Castiel switches to video; the camera is a bit snowy and staticy when he does so. Castiel looks wrong, light shining irregularly under his skin, in unpredictable areas and bursts. Instead of eyes, his sockets are shock-white.]
Yes, though I do not intend to infere with you more than I have.
There is a chain of events, Dean. One that has already been set up for you... one that has already been completed for me. It cannot be permitted to be completed anywhere else. I will not allow it. I didn't stop it here because I didn't understand what I could do, and how I could do it. The options I had.
[The screen goes fuzzy with static. Castiel gets brighter, all over, then with some apparent effort, dims.]
You haven't met Lillith yet, but you will. You don't know what Sam is capable of, but you will. She is evil, and she should be killed, but she cannot be permitted to die. Do not let Sam kill Lillith. You're the only one who can stop him. He will go to St. Mary's Convent in Massachusetts. You must go there first and stop him.
[Dean doesn't understand one out of every five words Castiel is saying - oh he knows they're English, but he doesn't know how they apply to him, but that's familiar by this point - and he doesn't like it. Doesn't like the implications on Sam, which automatically makes Dean bristle, especially coming from Castiel.
But this sounds like what he's also been charged with his entire life: watch out for Sam, because no one else will. He's the only one who can. Protect Sam.
So his lip curls instinctively but he marks the location anyway, even as he's typically pushing for more information.]
Man, c'mon, you gotta give me more than that. You can't drop something on me like that and then just leave it all cryptic. [He's had his fill of that. He can't help but hear John's voice even now - save Sam or kill Sam, one or the other.
[Well, that certainly gets Dean's attention focused; he clicks over into hunter mode. Castiel doesn't look so hot - he remembers the Overlook - and he doesn't know how much time he has, so Dean drops all the frills and asks point blank, rapid fire.]
Who is she? Is it just Sam killing her that does it or is it anyone? How does he kill her?
Everything else you'll learn in time. But there are pieces of the puzzle I didn't give you. Because I was stupid, or self-absorbed, or thought that the laid out history was correct, I don't know. But now everything will make sense in time.
[He can already tell that Castiel isn't going to tell him. He can hear it.
He was already having a hard time being calm, but now.]
No. No. No more of this cryptic "time will tell" destiny BULLSHIT. All you have to do is tell me. Right here, right now, straight out. All you have to do is tell me!
[The most apt way to describe it is Castiel flares - the screen bursts with white snow and there's an ear-bleedingly loud crackle of static which goes on for several seconds, before Castiel manages to wrangle himself back to something reasonable. Though there's definitely something bigger in his voice, something booming, a thousand times bigger than he appears.]
[Dean flinches, claps his free hand to his ear because he can't not, but he doesn't back down. This doesn't have as much to do with the fact there's a communicator between them as others might think.
He's still rubbing his ringing ear, glare undiminished, uncowed.]
Will it? And who gets to decide that, huh? Why the fuck would you tell me you know how the world ends and then not tell me all you can for how to stop it?
[Castiel has told him much worse things with far less fight; there's only one thing Dean can think of more terrible than standing by while Sam died, and he doesn't get the chance to stop himself from blurting it right out.]
Her first instinct is to Not Risk It. But when she thinks about it and analyzes the data, he did mention how powerful his original form is. Perhaps his advice is solid, and if she wears the helmet she'll be okay.
Lisbeth hesitates before replying.] ok. can you come here? [There's a certain next door neighbor of yours that she is trying to avoid.]
[Castiel just appears there. He is glowing under his skin in random patterns, bright splotches of light appearing and disappearing under the flesh. The exception here is his eyes, which are just white-hot light. When he speaks, there's a rumble behind his voice, something huge and otherworldy.]
[She expected the apparation, but she didn't expect the sight. She flinches slightly at his sudden presence, but once she gets a good look at him through her visor she backs up a few steps cautiously.
Castiel may notice that there are somewhere between 10 and 15 pictures of naked women posted around her apartment.
[If he does notice them, he makes no indication of it. There's a sense of force and the light under his skin calms down slightly, though his eyes remain as they are.]
Under normal circumstances, my kind require a vessel to posses so that we can communicate with mortals. The soul is... .the glue, more or less, the angel from separating from the human body.
When I graduated my first inmate, I gave my vessel back his body and returned to heaven. I was extremely surprised to find that I had been given a body again when I woke up on the barge again.
My only educated guess is that this vessel is breaking down with no soul keeping me to it.
