The biggest day-to-day risk is of him being a lazy, contrary asshole.

He's not violent unless provoked; I wouldn't put it past him to try stealing tools or chemical fertilizer, though I'd say that puts him in common with every Inmate on board.

He has a history of drugging people with sedatives but it's not a hobby. So long as you keep a catalog of plants being grown and inspect any food going out for consumption, which I assume you do anyway, he won't be a problem.

It's valuable to his rehabilitation that he has something to do with his time that's outside his comfort zone and involves an element of caretaking. I could explain that, but for reasons relating to his privacy I'm choosing not to.

And I'm telling you that you will be. As his warden, I feel that's my judgement call. What won't be contributing to his development in a positive manner is sharing information about his personal life that I've been provided by the Admiral in confidence.
