As a being, I'm simply too mighty to not control his form while I possess it. Unless some room of suppressing energy is tearing at me, it's not possible for him to control his own body while I'm here.
Such visits would be wasted; he's asleep while I control him, and remembers little. I imagine, if he were conscious, he would find it distinctly unpleasant to be crushed under my power.
