[There is an angel on the deck.]

[Well, not that you can tell. It's a man in a trenchcoat, a cheap suit, and a crooked tie. He's staring up into space, and then he looks over the long deck of the barge. Finally, he turns and faces the camera. He looks like he could use a nap.]

It's smaller than I expected.

It seems like whenever you sign up to do something......you're expected, immediately, to know how to do it, no matter what the scope. Maybe even the larger the scope, the less instruction you're given. Maybe that's intention. You should be expected to know how to live your life, but a simple ritual comes with easy instructions.

[He shakes his head, annoyed with himself.]

A bit over a year. It's hard to keep track, since I've taken a few trips home.

Where are you from, Castiel?

I'm from Heaven.

In my world, there's only one Heaven. Where righteous human souls go when their lives end, where the Lord rests. Above Earth.

I was born in heaven. I'm an angel.

[ A very. Long. Pause. And then a very quick spiel. ]

Four years fighting crime and my whole life in Gotham and this is what gets me. My cool is officially lost, my 'been-there-done-that' liscense revoked, my depth has been declared shallow and is so far gone that it passed not funny, came all the way around, and then passed it again.

And now I'm babbling. To an angel. Great.

You probably get this a lot, huh.

Those who live a righteous life, and defend the weak, and dedicate their time in wise ways and create good with their lives - they may dwell in the fields of Heaven for all eternity, in peace. Angels can err like humans. I would like to prove to myself that I am still capable of what I hope to do.

Murder, mayhem, and the ridiculous nonsense the Admiral puts us through on top of that: ports, floods, and the occasional holiday ruckus.
